1218. Joseph* ALDEN^{1672,2052,2053,2054,2055,2056} was born after 22 May 1627 in Plymouth, Plymouth Co., MA.^2052,2057 He died on 8 Feb 1696/97 in Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA.²⁰⁵² He signed a will on 14 Dec 1696 in Plymouth, Plymouth Co., MA.^{2056,2058,2059,2060,2061} "These are to publish and decalre to all whom it may concer that I, Joseph Alden, gentleman of the town of Bridgewater, in the county of Plymouth in New England, being of sound judgement and memory; do ordain and make my last will and testament in manner following:my immortal soul I do Humbly resign into the merciful hands of Almighty God, my creator, hoping through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ to obtain pardon and salvation. My Body I commit to the earth from whence it was, to be decently interred, at the descretion of my executor, and the rest of Christian friends. And as touching such wrldly estate as God hath blessed me withall, I dispose of it in manner and form as followeth.

IMPRIMIS I give to my son Isaaac fifty acres of land, which he lives upon, further, I give him ten acres more, which I gave him liberty to take up, more, ten acres of swamp, more, two acres of upland belonging' Coafter Kitchen' meadows, one acre more of meadow at Byram's Hole which he hath hitherto enjoyed, more, I give to him half my meadow lott in the Byram's Hole for consdieration whereof my will is that he allow to my son Joseh three acres of the aforementioned ten acres of swamp; further I give to my son Isaac my sixty acres of land between Brams Hole and the sawmill. All which lands above mentioned I say, I give to him, his heirs, and assignes forever.
Item. I give to my son Joseph the land whereon he lieve of which I have already given him afterwards by written Deed, further, I give to him twenty acreslying upon the great ----- below Goodman Bayley's land; further, I give between my two sons Joseph and John ten acres of land to be taken up to be equally divided which said lands aforesaid I give to him, hies heirs and assignes forever.
Item. I give to my dear wife my homestead with all the housing thereon and all my other lands joyning thereunto, more, I give unto er ten acres of land upon the plaine, more, two wood lots lying on the left hand of the road to Thomas Washburns, and my will is that my son John shall have the use and improvements thereof, for his and my wife's comfort during her lifetime. And that after here death, my son John should enjoy it alltogether with half my sixty acres above mentioned lying near the sawmill, and half my lott of meadow in Byram's Hole. All which parcells of land I say, I do give to him, his heirs and assigns forever, further I give all my moveables to my wife to dispose of as she shall see cause.
Item. I give to my three sons Isaa, Joseph and John all my right & Interest in the Major purchase, and also in the undivided lands belonging to my purchase right to be equally divided between them.
And finally I do constitute, make and ordain Mary my wife, executrix, and my son John executor of this my last will and testament, utterly renouncing and revoking, and disclaiming all other wills & testaments whatsoever. In witness wherof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 14 day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and ninety-six.

Held his father's share of land in Bridgewater. Third on list of grantees on the north side of town in 1683. (very near Taunton). Able to bear arms in1643. Freeman in Duxburty in 1657. Served on the grand inquest until 1685. Surveyor of highways. Moved to Bridgewater where he was a farmer on land purchased earlier from the Indians by his father and Myles Standish. He and Mary Simmons had a total of six children.

1219. Mary* SIMMONS^{1404,1672,2062} was born about 1638 in Duxbury, Plymouth Co., MA.^1404,2057 She died after 10 Mar 1695/96.²⁰⁵² Children were:

	i.	Sarah ALDEN2063 was born in 1665. She died in 1717.
