124. Archelaus* CARLOS859,1096 was born on 24 May 1734 in , New Kent Co., VA.1097 St. Peters's Parish. "(Year 1734): Archlaus Son of John and Ann Carloss born May 24, Baptised July 7th" He was christened on 7 Jul 1734 in , New Kent Co., VA. He died about 1798 in Caswell Co., NC.1098 He signed a will on 10 Jul 1798 in , Caswell Co., NC.1099,1100 "In the name of God Amen, I Archelaus Carlos of Caswell County, State of North Carolina, being in a low state of health but of sound mind and memory, Thanks to God do make and ordain this my last will & testament on form following. In the first place, I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to be decently buried at the descretion of my Executors. Item: The land and plantation where I now live containing 252 acres purchased of Peter Smith & John Powell I lend to my wife Fanny Carlos during her natural life & after her death I give it to my son Wm. Carter Carlos to him and his heirs & assignes for ever.
Item: I give to my daughter Nancy, one negro boy called Peyton and one negro girl called Molly & a feather bed & furniture to her and her heirs & assigns.
Item: The residue and remainder of my estate, be it of what nature or kind so ever, I leave to my wife Fanny Carlos, with this restriction to give said estate to any of her children (tat is to say) Polly Dixon, William C. Carlos, Dolly Rice, Robert Cole Crlos, Elizabeth Boman and Nancy Carlos, to them and their heirs forever. I leave to my wife Fanny Carlos Executrix of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this tenth day of July, A.D. 1798.

Sealed Assigned & Declared in the presense of: C. Dixon David Powell James Powell Executrix Qualified: This will proved in open court by the oaths of Charles Dixon, David Powell and James Powell three subscribing witnesses thereto & motion ordered to be recorded. At the same time Fanny Carlos widow & retest to the Sd. Dec'd. Qualified Executrix." He was buried in 1799 in , Caswell Co., NC.1101 On 16 Jul 1796 Peter Smith and John Powell of Caswell Co., deeded to Archelaus Carlos of the same county for 120 pounds: 252 1/2 acres on Hogan's Creek adjacent to William Norton, Nathaniel Dicerson, and George Allen Davis, on Roundhill Bridge: Tillman Dixon. Witnessed by John Price, Sr., and Jr. and Wm Smith. Caswell Co, NC, Will Book C page 357, Jan term 1799 contains the information that Archelaus left 252 acres purchased from Peter Smith and John Powell, a negro boy Peyton and a negro girl Molly, a feather bed and furniture, signed on 10 Jul 1798.

William Carter DON CARLOS1103 was born after 9 Sep 1769 in , Sussex Co., VA.857,1104 He died in Jun 1842 in Montgomery Co., AL.857 He was a Professor. Lived and owned property in Sussex Co., VA, evidently some of which was from his wife. In the 1800 Census he is Caswell Co., NC, where his father recently died. In 1830 and 1840 Census he is in Vermilion Co., Ill. He lived near his son Archie in Vermilion Township, Ill.

Marie 'Polly' (Mary) CARLOS1105 was born on 16 May 1767. She died on 6 Aug 1806 in Dixon Springs, Smith Co., TN. She was buried after 6 Aug 1806 in Dixon Springs, Smith Co., TN.1106 Perhaps near the site of Dixona. The grave ssite consists of an empty 'stone box' erected over the ground where the body is buried, to prevent animals from digging into the grave. 'Mrs Mary Dixon' engraved there.
