Purchased 80 acres for $100 on 4 Jun 1856, and obtained the patent to 80 acres in NW 1/4 of NW 1/4 and SE 1/4 of NW 1/4 Section 22 T12N, R 6 W, 46th Meridian, on 10 Aug 1858 in Bad Ax Co., WI. Deeded the SW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 and the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 in T12N R6W of sect 22 to Jesse Warner in Bad Ax (Vernon) Co., WI on 12 May 1859. This was witnessed by S. P. De Lap (his brother and Justice of the Peace) and Anne E. Lamb (his half brother's wife) and signed by both Hiram and Lucinda De Lap. These parcels were just one section away from Hiram's father's holdings in 1858.

In Sterling town, Bad Ax Co. in 1860. Moved to Tomah, Monroe Co., WI for a time about 1869 but returned to Vernon Co. Listed in 1870 federal census in Sterling Twp, Vernon Co., WI (West Prairie post office), age 42 Farmer worth $600 in Real Estate and $600 in personal property, born in NY, with Lucinda 36 keeping house born in IN, Cornelia 17, born WI, Ransom 14, Amborse 11, Josiah 5, and 'Lavinia' 2 all born in WI. 'Lavinia would be Ellen May or 'Ella' born in 1868. Residence in Town of Sterling, Vernon Co., WI at time of his third marriage 12 Oct 1872. Listed in the 1880 census with wife Achsah and children Josiah, Ella May and Frank in Vernon Co., WI.

Came to Oak Grove, Eola Hills, near Salem, Polk Co. OR in 1889 to live with son Josiah W. DeLap. On 9 Feb 1891, Hiram deeded 100 acres to his wife Achsah: W 1/2 of NW 1/4 and W 1/2 of the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4of Section 11, T7S, R4W, Polk Co., OR near Oak Grove. Hiram* DELAP and Lucinda* BAER were married on 17 Apr 1852 in Franklin, Vernon Co., WI.²⁶⁹ In the house of Ransom Lamb, in the presence of John Riley and Ransom
Lamb. Filed 7 May 1852 Bad Ax Co. WI (Vernon Co.). Marriage ended with
the death of Lucinda in 1872.

Ruth DeLap Turner, youngest daughter of Ransom DeLap, said that Ransom said that his father Hiram always carried a guilt that he may have contributed to the death of his wife Lucinda. She was suffering from constipation and Hiram gave her something and she proceeded to die. She was buried in Liberty, Vernon Co., WI.^275,276 Liberty Pole Cemetery lot number 258. Last name given incorrectly in an article on p 470 of 'Vernon Co., WI Heritage Book by Vernon Co.WI Historical Soc.', 1994. as Lucinda (Lamb) DeLap, mother of Cornelia Jane DeLap.. Name of her father given correctly on her death certificate: John Baer.

Attended by doctor who signed death certificate from 12 Nov 1926 until her death. Listed as a farmer's wife on the death certificate. Her doctor gave his address as Kensington, KS. Death certificate from KS gives Agra as the city where she died as a widow.

He died before 1870 in Franklin, Vernon Co., WI.²⁸⁴ Noted by his absence in this census. According to the tombstone he was 7 years old when he died. He was buried in Franklin Town, Veronon Co., WI.²⁸⁵ Liberty Pole Cemetery, with his brother James and mother Lucinda..

On 30 Jul 1901, his stepmother, Achsah deeded the 100 acres to him that her husband Hiram had deeded to her ten years before, being the W 1/2 of the NW 1/4 and the W 1/2 of the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 11, T7W, R4W, in Polk Co., OR.

On 18 Mar 1906, G. C. and Sarah M. Smith deeded to Josiah for $100., ten acres of land in Section 10, T7S R4W adjacent to land already held by him in Polk Co., OR, near Oak Grove.

On 2 Jan 1912, L. D. and Leta W. Brown sold for $150, ten acres of land to him: the E 1/2 of the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 10, T7S, R4W., in Polk Co., OR, near Oak Grove.

On 22 Oct 1940, for $155.55 Josiah and Susan conveyed an easement to the U. S. amounting to a length of 2851.41 feet long, containing about 6.5 acres for an electrical power line.

On 25 Mar 1942, Josiah and Susan sold their holdings near Oak Grove, Polk Co., OR to W. E. Knower, being 100 acres : W 1/2 of SE 1/4 of NW 1/4 Section 11, T7S, R4W, deeded to him by his mother in 1901, and 10 acres: in Section 10, T7S, R4W, and another 10 acres: the E 1/2 of the E 1/2 of the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 10, T7S, R4W and another 40 acres in that section: the NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4, totalling 160 acres but retaining the right to enter, use and occupy the land for the remainder of their life. This W. E. Knower may have been the son of Susan by an earlier marriage

Vernon De Lap remembered going to the Oregon state fair when he was achild with his (grand) 'Uncle' Joe and being bit by a goose.

Frank DELAP was born before 17 May 1872. Eleven days old when his mother died. He appeared in the census on 11 Jun 1880 in Jefferson Town, Vernon Co., WI.²⁶² He was buried. Charles Floyd DeLap, Frank's nephew inquired into the death of Frank in
Idaho and found some evidence that he died of a lightning stroke. A miner who disappeared from the family.
