Caleb* STANLEY1731,1732 was born in Mar 1642.2173 He signed a will on 7 Mar
1716 in Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.2174
His will of Mar. 1716, names w. Lydia, four ds. and four childr. of his s. Caleb,
wh. was dec. and Roger Pitkins, h. of his d. Hannah, dec.
"I, Caleb Stanly of Hartford, do make and ordain this my last will and testament:
I give to my wife Lydia Stanly, besides what I have given her in way of dowry
before marriage, one cow, 40 shillings in household stuff, one swine, and lend
here one feather bed and furniture during her natural life, and after her decease
to be returned to my children. I confirm unto my daughter Abigail Stanly and
her heirs forever my land on the east side of the Great River, after my decease,
I to have the last crop growing upon it, my son Caleb having paid for it before
his death, to be free of all common fence. I give my son Roger Pitkin five shillings
as a token ofmy love besides what I have given to his wife. I give tomy daughter,
Wido. Abigail Stanly, five shillings as a token of my love besides the portion
I gave her husband before his death, being above 300 pounds, set down in my book
of accot., Ledger G, Page 138. i give to my four grandchildren, Timothy, Caleb,
Jonathan and William Stanly, all my right in the last five miles of land on the
east side of the Great River, purchased of Mr. Thomas Buckingham and Major Fitch.
I give to my daughter Elizabeth Pitkin five shillings as a token of my love
besides the portion Ihave already given her. I give the remainder of my estate,
both personal and real, to my daughters, Ann and Abigail Stanly, forever, to
be equally divided between them, excepting what is hereafter proveided, that
is to say, if it does not arise tomore between them than what I have given already
to my daughter Ruth to have equally with them inthe said estate, with what she
hath already received. I make my son William Pitkin executor. I give him my
gold ring partly as gift and partly to encourage him to be my executor, and give
him power to sell any part of my land to pay my debts. I make my loveing friends,
Ensign John Marsh and Sergt. John Skinner, myh overseers.

He died on 5 May 1718 in Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.1731 He had his estate probated on 3 Jun 1718 in Hartford,
Hartford Co., CT.2175
Proved 3 Jun 1718. Inventory taken on 13 Jun 1718: value 402 pounds 8 shillings
3 pence, by John Marsh, Jr., and Nathaniel Stanly. Of Hartford, CT. Appointed
to keeping the town ammunition. On 13 Jun 1689 he delivered 14 lbs for firing
in the gus at the proclamation of King William and Queen Mary. On 22 mar 1700
the remainder was delivered to the selectmen and placed in the South meeting
house. His inventory came to 402p 8s 3d on 3 Jun 1718, including a gold ring,
silver tankard and spoons. The Probate court in Hartford allowed him out of
the estate of Robert Morrice, four pounds for all the bread that he had backed
for Robert Morrice over a number of years on 25 Nov 1684. Captain Caleb* STANLEY
and Hannah* COWLES were married on 1 Mar 1665.2176 1639. Hannah* COWLES2177
was born about 1646. She died on 4 Feb 1690. Left by
Robert Morrice in his will of 7 Jun 1684: "Item. I give unto Hannah Standly,
the wife of Caleb Standly, my Book called "The Saints' Everlasting Rest,"
of Mr. Raxter's Works." Children were:

Elizabeth Standly, their (Caleb Stanley's) other daughter, my Book called "Abram's
