962. Albert* Albertse, (Jr.) TERHUNE Jr.598,867,1826,1827,1828,1829 was born in 1651 in New Utrecht, Kings Co., NY.827,1830 He was christened on 13 Aug 1651 in New Amsterdam, .NY. He signed a will on 16 Feb 1707/8 in Hackensack, Bergen Co., NJ.1831,1832 "...done at my common dwelling houe in Hackensack in the cellar chamber at 9 o'clock in the evening...." willed to his wife: " the northwest chamber of the house, fire wood, a piece of ground for a garden, 10 schepples of corn and 6 schepples of wheat yearly...." described his house:"...a good sized house with 4 rooms..." which overlooked the Hackensack River. (built 1659, torn down in 1951.) The will identified names of 13 children.

--ALBERT TERHUNESS. In the name of God, Amen, the 16 February, 1707/8.
I, Albert Terhuness, of Hackensack, in the county of Essex, in the Province of New Jersey.

I appoint my brother, John Terhuness, of Flatlands, in Kings County, and my brother-in-law,
Albert Stevens, of Hackensack, tutors of my children.

Provision is made for wife Mary, who is to have, among other things, a gold ring, "being in weight and price œ1."

All the rest of estate to children John, Stephen, Gertruyd, Willementie, Maritie, Rachel, Albertus, Johanes, Dirck, Wyntie, and Annettie.

My wife is to have the northwest chamber in the house, and firewood, and a piece of ground for a garden, and 10 schepples of corn and 6 schepples of wheat yearly.

Abstract by William S. Pelletreau. He died on 9 Sep 1709 in Hackensack, Bergen Co., NJ. Probably Bergen Co. He had his estate probated on 9 Sep 1709 in , Bergen Co., NJ. French Huguenot. Moved to NJ form Long Island, NY after 1678. Had 70 acres in 1683. Member East Jersey Legislature in 1696. Will dated 16 Feb 1707. Built a house in 1659 that was torn down in 1951. According to "Banta Pioneers", Albert was born in New Amsterdam in 1651. He was married 3 times, presumably, outliving all 3 wives. He had 9 children by his first wife, 5 by his second wife and 1 by his 3rd wife. Albert and his family moved Long Island to New Jersey after 1678, with his first wife and children, and settled on land obtained by his father by a "patent" (land grant) from Governor Carteret. Albert's home in Hackensack, New Jersey had been built in 1659. It was lived in up until 1950, when it was torn down. It is mentioned in the book "Pre-Revolutionary Dutch Houses" by Rosalie Fellows Bailey, with a picture on page 309. An introduction to the book was written by President Franklin Roosevelt (a Dutchman), who was chairman of the special committee on Pre-Revolutionary Dutch Houses. Albert* Albertse, (Jr.) TERHUNE Jr. and Wyntje* BRICKERS were married in 1693.827 Von gives an estimate of 1676 for this marriage.
