Educated at Berkhamsted School and Pembroke College, Oxford. MA from Oxford 17 Oct 1631. Sixth Headmaster of Berkhamsted Grammar School for Boys (est. 1541.) on 8 Aug 1636. Went to Mr. Sturmey's house in Chancery Lane in London in the summer of 1643 where he became ill. He and his brother George may have gotten the plague there, where they died six months before their father. William*. PITKIN Jr. and Elizabeth*45 were married about 1634.

He died in 1721 in Tiverton, Devon, England. A Mr. Roger Pitkin's burial was paid for in the 1721 Vestry records in Berkhamsted. Lived in Helmet Court, beside London Wall near Little Morefields after 1666. He was married and had at least 2 sons. Officer in King Charles II's Army in 1667.

Martha PITKIN1649,1729,2652 was born on 12 Dec 1639 in Berkhamstead, Herts, England.2648 She was christened on 12 Dec 1639 in Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, England. She was buried in 1719. "Also Martha Pitkin wife of Simon Wolcott born 1639 dyed 15 Oct 1719." on the tombstone. She died on 13 Oct 1719 in Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.2648 A Headstone marked her grave in the old South Windsor churchyard but her name was later inscribed on the monument of her first husband in the cemetery at Windsor.
According to tradition and thought to be true, while on a visit to her brother, Martha accepted a proposal of marriage from Simon Wolcott made at the suggestion of leading men of the colony. She became the ancestor of 7 new England governors.
