1194. Nathaniel* BACON^{1522,1638,2026,2027,2028} was born about 1573 in Stratton, Rutland, England. Birth given as 1613 in Mayflower families through 5 generations. He died in 1673 in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA. Arrived in Barnstable a poor young man without friends or education.He was proposed as a freeman in 1645, admitted in 1646. Constable in 1650. Deputy to the Colony Court 13 years: 1632-1665. Member of the council of war from 1658-1667. chosen a representative in 1655, and made an Assistant. of Plymouth Colony in 1667. Owned 16 acres in the old Common Field, and 11 acres in the new Common field. Owned a house lot and land later owned by Frederick Cobb of 12 acres. He also had 32 acres at Cotuit, meadows in the mill pond and at Sandy Neck and elsewhere. Tanner and Currier. Built his house in 1642. using oak, 2 stories high, 22' wide and 26' deep. 3 rooms in the lower part. Front room was 16'square, with a large beam acrosss the center of it.. There was a cellar which raised the befroom 2 feet. Very small kitchen. 3 rooms upastairs. stone chimney. The fire place was 8' wide 4' deep with a tall mantle as high as a person. An oven on the outside had an opening in the fireplace. There was a smaller fire place in the kitchen. Inventory of his estate valued at 632 pounds 10s 2p on 29 Oct 1673. Nathaniel* BACON and Rev. Hannah* MAYO were married on 4 Dec 1642 in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA.
