226. John* BIBB1271 was born in 1703 in , Goochland Co., VA.1272,1273 Fite gives birthdate of 1710 He died on 24 May 1769.1272 Date given as 1 Jun 1769 by Holmes2. Fite gives date of 17 Jul 1769. He signed a will on 24 May 1769 in , Goochland Co., VA.1274 "In the name of God amen, I John Bibb of Goochland, beeing sound in body yet in perfect sences & meomory (for which I praise God) do make this my last will and Testament.
First I lend to my wife Susanna Bibb during her natural life half the plantation and Tract of Land where I now live in Goochland County also half the following negro and Mulatto slaves Viz: Jack, Dick, Will, Yellow Dick, Hannah, Juda, Nanny Rachel, Patty, Young Hannah, Isaac, Patty daughter of Judas, also my rideing Chair and pair of Chair horses, also half my household and kitchen furniture & half the stock of Cattle, sheep, hogs & horses on the plantation where I now live and after her decease I dispose of the same as hereafter directed --
it is my desire that my wife & my son Richard Bibb pay to my son William Bibb the value of the english mare.

Item I give and bequeath to my son Richard Bibb and to his heirs and assigns forever the remaining half of the above mentioned plantation and Tract of land thereto adjoining whereon I now live in Goochland County also the remaining half of the above mentiond Negro and Mulatto slaves, and their future increase, also the remaining half of the above mentioned house hold, kitchen Furniture and half the stock of Cattle, sheep, hogs, &horses above mentoned to him, his heirs and assignes forever.

it is my desire that he may have a division with my wife in the above mentioned land, Negros & when he shall require it, and after my wifes decease I give to my son Richard Bibb, and to his heirs, and assigns forever, the plantation and Tract of land and the negroes hereby lent to my wife and there (sic) future Increase, also the household and Kitchen Furniture & stock of Cattle, sheep, hoggs, and horses lent to my wife I give to my said son Richard Bibb my still (?).

Item I give and bequeaath to my son John Bibb and to his heirs and asisgns forever, part of my Tract of land in prince Edward County on Buffaloe River, for which he has a deed., also the following negro slaves and their future Increase Viz. Sam, Moll, Hannah, Phillis, Dick, Nell, Also Squire Rachel daughter of Nan, also the Cattle sheep, hogs, & horses, which is already in his possession and their future increase.

Item I give and bequeath to my son James Bibb and to his heirs and assigns forever part of my Tract of land in prince Edward County on Buffaloe river, which he has already a deed for, also the following negro and Mulatto slaves and their future increase Viz. Lucy, Phebe, Davy, Aggy, Sue, Nanny, Toney, Major, Phebe, daughter of Juda, also the stock of Cattle, hogs, sheep and horses now in his possession which is on the said Tract of land on Buffaloe to his heirs and assigns forever.

Item I give and bequesath to my son William Bibb & to his heirs and assigns forever part of my Tract of land in Prince Edward County, which he has got a deed for also the following negro slaves, and their future increase Viz Joe, Nicholas, Phebe, Lucy, Anna & Lidia: to him & his heirs and assigns forever.

Item I lend to my duaghter Susanna Clarke the following negro & Mulatto slaves and their future increase for and during her natural life for and towards her use, support & maintenance, and the use, support and Maintenance of any Child or Children that she now has, or hereafter may have to no other use or purpose whatsoever, so that the said slaves be not liable to any Debt or Contract, that may be entered into or Contracted by her husband Sam Clarke or any other husband that she may hereafter have Viz: Mollie, Nanny, Grace, Peter, Jack, Isaac, & Ruth also Mulatto Nanny at my wifes decease, which said Mulatto Nanny Thereby lend to my wife during her natural life, also my rideing Chair and pair of Chair horses, hereby lent my wife after my said wifes decease, also eleven head of Cattle, twelve head of sheep, two feather beds and furniture and one large trunk, which is now in her husband James Clarke's possession and after my said Daughters deceases, I then give the said slaves & their future increase aforesaid to be equally divided among all the children that she shall have liveing at the time of her death and in Case any of her children should be then dead leaving lawfull issue .... the proportinable part of such child or children being so dead to be equally divided among such issue and their heirs and assigns forever I also lend to my said Daughter Susanna Clarke my land and plantation in Goochland County that I bought of Daniel & Wm. Price under the same limitations, restrictiona & directions as the slaves hereby lent her are under, it is my will and desire that it shall be at the descression of my executors to make sale of this said land lent my daughter Susanna Clarke & the money arising thereby to be laid out in other land for the same use, and under the same militations, restrictions & directions as this now is and after my said daughters decease, I give the land and plantation so limitted, restricted & directed to the heir of her body that shall be then liveing to him or her, & their heirs and assigns forever.

Item: I lend to my Daughter Elizabeth Farrar the following negro slaves, and their future increase Viz. Lary, Young Phebe, (daugher of old Lary) Tom, Bob, Juda, Ned, Arthur, Sall, Chloe, (Daughter of Young Phebe) Nicholas (son of Lary) under the same limitations, restrictions and directions as the slaves hereby lent my Daughter Susanna Clarke, are under except also her oldest Son, on whom a Considerable estate is entailed & whom I hereby exclude from any part thereof, except she has no other child liveing at the time of her death.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Grandaughter Lucy Clarke one negro Girl named Janey (Daughter of Juda) and her future increase to her and her heirs and assigns forever.

Item: It is my desire that my Two sons John and James Bibb pay twenty pounds each, to by Executors to be disposed of by them for two negro Girls one of them for my Grandaughter Jane Farrar for them, their heirs and Assigns forever, which shall be a discharge for the money due from them to me.

Item: It is my desire that the land I Cavited formerly belonging to my nephew Wm. Bibb should be sold by my executors and after all Charges paid the remainder of the money be put out upon Interest for to maintain the said William Bibb at the Discression of my Executors.

Item: It is my desire that my wife Susanna Bibb & my son Richard Bibbb maintain my Father in Law William Bigger during his Natural life for so doing it is my desire that they have the use of the negro fellow Dick distinquished by the name Knox also the yearly income that shall become due to me on his account.

Item: It is my desire that the Debts due me be collected and disposed of to pay my Creditors.

Item: It is m desire that if any of my aforesaid Children should die under lawfull age, unmarried that the estate hereby given them be equally divided among the survivors or their legal representatives in the same manner and under the same directions tha the other estates hereby given or lent them respectively is disposed of.

Lastly I Constitute and appoint my loveing wife Susanna Bibb Executrix, my sons Wm. and Richard Bibb Executors of this my last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this
