Levi was the first white men to locate within this township along with Samuel Black, who came as early as the year 1822, and, until the following spring, were the only white inhabitants of this township.

27. Jane* MCCORMICK272,547,549,550 was born on 13 Oct 1812 in , Erie Co., PA.551 A Jane Dunlap McCormick was born on 28 Nov 1812, Centre Co., PA, who m 26 Aug 1845: John J. Lamb. The county of Erie was not established until 1812. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Liberty, Vernon Co., WI.552 Living with her son Orange Lamb in 1880 and two sisters Emma S. and Mariah E. She died on 2 Nov 1886 in La Crosse, La Crosse Co., WI.553,554 Cause: Cancer of the stomach. She was buried in Franklin Town, Vernon Co., WI.555 Liberty Pole Cemetery. A Jane McCormick purchased four pieces of land from the gov. between 8 Feb 1831 and 3 Sep 1834 in Montgomery Co., IN, just south of Tippecanoe Co. where this Jane married John Baer in 1830 and Ransom Lamb in 1837. This is the only McCormick to ever get a patent, there, and neither Baers nor Lambs every did.

A Jane McCormick also purchased 80 acres of land in Morgan Co., IL on 30 Mar 1837 (#10808) at Springfield: the W1/2 of the SE 1/4 of Sec 18 in T14N, R8W. But this location is not near Ransom Lamb.
