60. Henry* BANTA323,325,826 was born on 31 May 1771 in Conewago,
Adams Co., PA.827 He appeared
in the census in 1840 in , Bourbon Co., KY.828
He signed a will on 25 Nov 1840 in , Madison Co., KY.829 " I Henry Banta of Madison County & State
of Kentucky, being of sound & disposing mind but doubt mind of that state
of health, do make, ordain, declare and publish the following as my last will
testament.
To wit - In the first place I direct all my just debts and funeral expenses shall
be paid. In the second place I direct that my new house shall be comfortably
furnished as a residence for my wife Wilmouth Banta, and that the dower be laid
off to include said building in a proper and farmer like manner. In the third
place I will and direct that my land (one third being first laid off as above
directed for my wife), and all my personal property (my wife's third excepting)
be equally divided amongst all my children. In the last place, I will and direct
that no charge be rendered against my son Peter Bana for board or anything else
for himself or children whilst residing with me, and as I intend to keep them
during my life, Peter's attention to my business & services being in my opinion
a full equivalent for their board, etc.
P.S. I give to my wife Wilmoth the bay horse colt given her by her father over
and above one third of my whole Estate, and I will and direct that my Executor
purchase and give to my daughters Wilmoth, Miranda & Merva each a set of
large silver table spoons to make them equal with their sisters to whom I have
heretofore given spoons. These spoons to be given to my daughters over and above
an equal share in my real and personal Estate.
In Testament whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 25th day of November
1840

I Dave de Vine, clerk of the Court for the County aforesaid do hereby certify
that at a county Court held for Madison County on Tuesday third day of February
1841, this Instrument of writing was produced in open Court and proven to be
the last will & Testament of Henry Banta deceased, by the oaths of William
Oldham and John R. Moberly subscribing witnesses thereto, and ordered to be entered
of record which has been done accordingly

He died before 3 Feb 1841 in , Madison Co., KY.830 Died after 25 Nov 1840 when he signed his will and
3 Feb 1841, when it was recorded at court. Farmer. Lived in Adams Co., PA but
removed to Madison County, KY. Dutch Reformed church. Known as Henry. He migrated
with his parents to Kentucky, near Boonesborough. He was a farmer in Madison
Co., KY.
On 13 Sep 1810 George and Peggy Kerby and Lucy Burwell deeded Henry Banta 'a
parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Madison and State aforesaid
(KY) being fifty acres of land which was devised to the Peggy hereby during her
life and after death to the said Lucy by the last will and testament of Daniel
Maupin Seigneor, dec. which will more fully appear by a copy of said will hereto
annexed and bounded as follows....: beginning at the NE corner of R. Moberly's
survey of 750 acres thence west 12 poles to a small coulant (rivilet?) and Hickory
there, South 60 poles to a red bud (a tree), thence 127 poles crossing two branches
(creeks) to a white oak and ash on the bank of a small branch (creek) thence
North 63 poles to the Beginning,' for 90 pounds.
On 4 Jun 1811 for $190 Henry and Wilmoth sold to Daniel Miller a tract of land
on the waters of muddy crek containg by survey 98 acres with these boundaries:
begiining at a white oak and Sugar tree standing in the said line of the survey
of 199.8 3/4 acres in the name of Abraham Banta and said 98 acres being a part
of said Survey and being also on the South line of a tract - by Baward Russel
ass- of Gates and whereon said Miller now lifes thereon S 86 N 131 poles to a
white oak and Hickory in said line thence S 89 degrees E 29 poles to a red oak
near the mouth of a small branch thence south croping a larger branch 60 poles
to 2 dogwoods and a Hickory thence S 29 E(?) 73 poles to a white oak and Sugar
tree in Ivan Watson's line formerly Wallace Estells thence with said line N 89
degrees East 76 poles to Sugar tree and elm in said line thence N 154 poles to
the Beginning. Henry* BANTA and Wilmoth* COOMBS were married on 6 Aug 1798 in
Lincoln Co, KY.827,831,832 Consent

Co, KY.827 She signed a
will on 29 Jun 1841 in , Madison Co., MO.835
Witnessed by Thomas H. Christopher, Thomas E. Gales, (?) Moberly, George (?).
She gives some bedding and plates to her Heatherly daughters. She died after
1841 in prob. Madison Co. MO.827,836 Listed on the 16 Aug 1800 Lincoln
Co., KY tax list and 1810 census. Recorded gifts to her granddaughters on 29
Jun 1841, the summer after her husband's death: 'I have this day given and by
these presents confirm to my granddaughters Elizabeth Heatherly & Zeralda
Heatherly one bed & bed clothing - - & a lot of bed clothes, also a
set of plates, knives & forks - - all of which property has this day been
sold under a decree of the Mad. Circuit as the Property of Thomas Heatherly &
by one purchased .
