Listed with his father John in Lunenburg Co., VA, (later Henry Co.) 10 Jun 1764. Deeded 100 acres of land by his father for 20 pounds in 1768, and deeded it in 1772 to Barnett Owen for 25 pounds and left Lunenburg Co., Va. Barnett was his son William's father in law. Listed in 1790 Spartanburg census with a male over 16, 2 males under 16 and 3 females. Listed in the 1800 census in Spartanburg, SC (The only Luke Thornton in the 1800 Census): 1 male 10-16, 1 male 16-26, 1 male over 45, 1 female under 10, 1 female 10-16, 1 female over 45. Does not appear in 1810 census. Luke* THORNTON and Martha* were married about 1762.

177. Martha*¹²⁰⁷ was born about 1747 in , Orange Co., VA. She died after 1810 in , Spartanburg Co., SC. Listed in 1810 Spartanbburg census: 1 male 10-16, 1 male 16-25, 1 female 10-16, 1 female 16-26, 1 female over 45, when she was 63. Children were:
